Santa Monica, CA. With Johnson Favaro Architects. A racquetball court turned two-story gallery.

The space began life as a racquetball court. Working with Johnson Favaro Architects, I converted it into a two-story gallery to house part of the owner's collection of modern and contemporary art.

A gallery inside a house has to carry the work as well as show it. The project included building the concrete support for a Nancy Rubins sculpture, the kind of piece that needs structure designed around its weight and its reach before it can be installed at all.

What this project involved

  • Conversion of a racquetball court into a two-story private gallery
  • Concrete support engineered and built for a Nancy Rubins sculpture
  • Built with the architects, to their drawings

Photographs of the gallery are coming to this page.
