John Lautner Kitchen Remodel, Beverly Hills

John Lautner Kitchen Remodel, Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills, CA. A John Lautner house. Kitchen, laundry room and deck.

A Lautner house asks you to work in the materials it was built from, so the kitchen was remodeled in stone and wood rather than anything that would read as new. I installed black walnut cabinets a full inch thick, Bouquet Canyon stone floors and countertops of Pennsylvania blue limestone two inches thick with a chiseled edge. The laundry room was remodeled in the same stone and the same cabinetry so the two rooms read as one piece of work.

The deck was the hard part. The old stone came off, the damaged support beams underneath were replaced, and the support flooring was rebuilt and waterproofed before the new stone went down. Done in that order, the deck will outlast the stone on it.

What this project involved

• Full kitchen remodel in black walnut and natural stone
• Laundry room remodeled to match
• Deck rebuilt from the beams up, waterproofed, re-stoned

Photographs of the finished kitchen and deck are coming to this page.
